What is a Bitaxe?

A Bitaxe is an open-source, single-chip Bitcoin miner. It takes one modern SHA-256 ASIC, the same kind of chip found in large Antminers, and puts it on a small, low-power board with its own web-based firmware. It is designed for home and solo lottery mining rather than industrial farms.

How much does a Bitaxe hash and how much power does it use?

The current Bitaxe Gamma produces roughly 1 to 1.2 TH/s while drawing about 15 watts, depending on tuning. Older models like the Ultra and Supra sit around 0.5 to 0.7 TH/s. That is a fraction of an Antminer's output, but at a tiny fraction of its power and noise.

Is a Bitaxe profitable?

On Bitcoin, a Bitaxe is a lottery ticket rather than a steady earner: its share of the network is tiny, so expected time to a block is very long. Its low power draw keeps the running cost small, and many owners mine smaller chains or accept the odds for the sovereignty and the chance of a full block reward.

Power it on, join its Wi-Fi setup page, point the stratum URL at a solo pool, and enter your own wallet address as the username. On a non-custodial pool like mkpool, any block your Bitaxe finds pays that address directly with zero pool fees. From there you can tune frequency and voltage for more hashrate or better efficiency.
